Photos of potential mold problems on a house

The photos below all show areas that should be filled, repaired, or otherwise have whatever needs done to insure water does not get into these areas.

This is not a real bad problem, but should be sealed to prevent it from becoming a problem

Cracks such as these can allow moisture to get in and do damage to wood and drywall on the other side

Areas such as this are a potential mold breeding ground, and need to be sealed

More exterior cracks that need to be sealed to insure no mold can grow

Areas like this are a real problem, and should be sealed right away

Another area that could potentialy allow moisture in and mold to grow

Same as above

Be sure the foundation is free of ANY cracks

Windows and doors need to be sealed. Areas such as what you see in this picture can allow moisture and rain to get into the wall cavity,
This particular door gets very wet when it rains, that means mold can easily grow and become a serious problkem for this home owner.

This is an even bigger problem than the pic above this one. Notice you can see the wood behind the window frame and siding?

These areas are neon signs inviting mold to come on in!

Hole in foundation of a basement wall at ground level. This is not only a problem for water getting in and causing
mold, it is also a problem for rodents to get into your home as well.

Good sized hole in side of house. This is a big opening for water to seep on into
you should fill in all holes on the eterior to insure no water can get into the wall.

Cracks along foundation and hole in side of house. Lots of areas for
rain and moisture to get in and wreak havik on your home

Paint chipping away from wood rafters. Exposed wood is a sponge for water and will
grow mold in a short period of time. Make sure any wood that is peeling and chipping
is scrapped and and repainted right away. This will not only allow mold to grow, but
it will also cause the exposed wood to rot, which will result in very costly repairs.

Another pic of exposed wood in need of being painted. Notice also where the frame comes together there is a gap at the
peak with the main roof beam travelling into the attic area.  Water can easily follow this beam into the attic creating a bad problem.

There is wood behind these two meters, the wood looks as though it has never been painted,
it is rotting and has gaps allowing water and moisture to get into the wall. These meters are
on the back of this house, and most rain hits right on it! This should not only be painted, but
also cemented around and over the wood in order to protect the wall behind the meters.

Wood beams on a basement floor that has sat in leaking water. Notice the black areas? This is black mold growing on the wood. We saw this wood before the leak, and can state for a fact that the wood looked new two weeks prior to the leak. Now it has grey, black, and white growth on them, not to mention had we not found the leak, the wood would eventually rot and colapse. Wood and carpet should NEVER be placed on a concrete floor, and should especially not be permanently attached. You are asking for a mold problem if you do this, it is almost a certainty under these conditions.

Green mold growing on a beam under the floor from an old washer leak. New water leaks can "wake up" mold that has sat quiet a long time. Make sure you take a flash light and look at every crack and crevis in a basement, things can be hiding, and if there has been a lot of remodling, the smells from the remodling can hide the smells of molds! Look very closely. Old dry mold can sometimes be more deadly than fresh molds, as this is the time when they put off micotoxins, which is what makes a person so sick. Dry mold is basicly a biological war going on in your home and your body. Not a good thing!
